Soup of Success Graduation – May 11th, 2011

On May 11th, seven amazing women graduated from the Soup Of Success Job & Life Skills Training Program.  The program includes an intensive dive into Group and Individual Support, Education Modules, Career Counseling, Hands-on Business Skills, and Mentoring and Graduate Follow-up. From left to right: Graduate Julie Black, Peachie New, Stephanie Higgins, Summer Gary-Slack, Cindy Silk, Millie Newman, Ebony Curtis

Mentor, Kristin Shoulders, made an amazing cake for the women that everyone was able to share together.

Staff, family, and friends all gathered together  at Fellowship of Hope church in Elkhart to celebrate this joyous accomplishment in the women’s lives and see them off to exciting new beginnings.  Many of these supporting figures gave gifts and spoke encouraging and affirming words to the women to appreciate who they are, the work they have done, and where they are going.

One of the graduates, Cindy, shared her talents with the whole group as she sang “A Soft Goodbye” by The Celtic Women.  Millie  read the poem, “Count Your Many Blessings.”  Together, the  women recited poetry that was important to them from “Imagine a Woman” by Patricia Lynn Reilly. Laura Yeager created a surprise video with the women’s pictures from throughout the program that was very touching.

It was truly an emotion charged, hope filled, celebratory night in the lives of seven women and their families and friends.  We are excited to support and follow-up with these women as they take the skills they learned and apply them to their daily walk.

Congrats!
