Today was Homebound Delivery Day at Church Community Services. On the third Wednesday of each month, volunteers come together and deliver groceries to individuals that are homebound and unable to come into the pantry for assistance.
105 boxes filled and ready for delivery this morning.
Barb Force, Soup Of Success Graduate, has been coordinating the Homebound Food Delivery program of CCS since 2009. She is seen here with two of the volunteer route delivery people – Gary Stoltz (l) and Jimmy Force (r).
Clients really look forward to the monthly interactions with our drivers. Barb stated that “We not only deliver food, but also hope to residents in Elkhart.” One gentleman mentioned today that he “would not know what to do without our monthly visits.”
Barb is in need of three new route drivers (Stratford Commons, Watertower Apartments both in downtown Elkhart, and a third route on the west side of Elkhart.) Volunteers must have a valid driver’s license, and be able to lift up to 15 lbs. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Barb at (574) 523-1551 x115.
