If you listen closely, you can hear the heartbeat of Church Community Services every day, at 907 Oakland Ave.
First setting the stage: Today several children are waiting with their parents, and their energetic voices are spreading cheer into every corner of this place. Other times babies cry, for any of the reasons babies cry.
Against this backdrop, stories surface. Many days at some point a man will approach the reception desk, barely able to lift his eyes, saying something like, “This is the first time I’ve ever had to come to a place like this . . . yes, ma’am. . . no ma’am. . .thank you, ma’am.”
These voices remind us how close it is to God’s heart to extend compassion and hope in our world. That’s why we’re here. I suspect you’re listening, too, and that’s why you’re reading this.
Together, we’re privileged to be able to offer light, and warmth, and love.
