Tackling Hunger in Elkhart County

We’ve decided to  jump into the rivalry between our two hometown teams to promote a food drive. Every year school spirit runs high when Elkhart Central and Elkhart Memorial high schools compete for the Mangy Lion trophy. This year both teams are also competing to see which one can get their fans to bring the most food to the game to help restock our pantry. The winner of that competition will get the 1st annual Growling Stomach award.

Tackling Hunger: Elkhart Central and Memorial coaches and players

Elkhart Central and Memorial coaches and players prepare to tackle hunger in Elkhart County Aug. 19

This year’s game is this Friday, August 19, at Rice Field, which is home for the Central team. From 5:30 till 8:30 fans can look for our truck in the parking lot. There will be at least one big bin for each team, so they can choose Central’s or Memorial’s. Even people who don’t come to the game can show their team — and community — spirit by bringing donations.

Service can be fun. That’s what these young people and their coaches are promoting. Many thanks to them all — at both schools. We’re so glad we don’t have to pick a favorite!
