On Saturday, May 12, We need at least (5) teams of two to be “Bag Buddies” and help letter carriers collect food from people on their mail route. The National Association of Letter Carriers “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive is the largest one-day food drive in the United States, held in over 10,000 cities in all 50 states. Across Elkhart County it takes more than 300 volunteers to pick up, sort, and shelve the donated food. The entire food drive is completed in under eight hours. It’s fast, a lot of fun, and feeds hungry people all over the county.
A portion of the food comes to Church Community Services’ pantry.
If you would like to be a much needed “Bag Buddy” who is assigned to a letter carrier route to help pick up donated food in specific neighborhoods, please contact Darren
Bickel at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (574) 295-1650.
In 2011, the NALC Food Drive raised more than 100,000 lbs. of food for local pantries in Elkhart County. By working together, hundreds of local families were fed. Let’s keep the pace again this year!
